The DMF Workshops are designed to familiarize clients with the techniques need to draw the best out of medium format gear, from resolution to composition.

While the fundamentals of digital photography apply to medium format, enough differences obtain to trip up photographers. Ultra-high resolution highlights any operator error. Understanding how sensors see, signal processing affects results, the tension between noise and sharpness, how anti-alias filters degrade resolution, and which software can repair or enhance files all contribute to achieve optimal results.

A perfect file doesn’t make a perfect photograph. Composition in all its aspects matter more than ideal exposure or technique. We will share insights from all the visual arts. We seek to open your eyes to new ways of seeing.

We offer two kinds of workshops:

The Three to Four Day Intensive – instruction, photography, and critiquing at one of North America’s most beautiful settings

The International Adventure – two weeks devoted to photographing landscapes and cultures in remote or wild locales, with mid-day presentations and critiques
